From Humble Beginnings
From cabinet maker to British manufacturer
IH Motorhomes was founded in 1992 by Ian Hartley. Originally a cabinet and pattern maker. His very first conversion went on show in the car park of the York Racecourse motorhome show with a simple "For Sale" sign. The build quality turned heads, and the organisers invited him to exhibit officially; the start of IH Motorhomes as a serious British manufacturer.
Three decades of innovation
1992
The first conversion
Ian Hartley builds and sells his first conversion at the York Racecourse show, founding IH Motorhomes from a small Castleford lock-up.
2003
The fixed rear panel
IH introduces the fixed rear panel van, a more luxurious, cosy and spacious interior paired with a useable boot. It remains a favourite on smaller panel van conversions to this day.
2005
A home in Knottingley
After outgrowing several premises, IH settles at its current Knottingley, West Yorkshire home with a customer consultation area and an NCC Approved Workshop.
2013
N-Class innovation
The N-Class arrives, replacing the traditional sliding van door with a side-entrance module and proper motorhome-style doors combined with the signature rear panel design.
2018
The 680 RD
In February, the 680 RD launches on the new VW Crafter platform. An immediate success, it cements IH as a shaper of the industry.

Now recognised as one of the most luxurious van conversion manufacturers in the UK and Europe, IH continues to refine its innovation and standards with every build.
